Four wiper warning signs: damaged rubber, persistent streaks, skipping or chattering, and large uncleared areas.
Illustration: four wiper warning signs: damaged rubber, persistent streaks, skipping or chattering, and large uncleared areas.
  1. Cracked or torn rubber

Look for splits, tears or missing pieces along the wiping edge.

  2. Persistent streaks

Lines or smears remain after the glass and blades are cleaned.

  3. Skipping or chattering

The blade jumps or judders instead of sweeping smoothly.

  4. Large uncleared areas

Patches stay wet where the blade should be clearing the glass.

Dirt can mimic wear. Follow your manual; replace damaged blades and have persistent problems checked.
