Start with an assessment

Ask whether the damage is suitable for repair or requires replacement. Repair treats suitable damage in the existing laminated windshield; replacement removes the glass and installs another windshield. The damage and applicable repair and vehicle guidance determine the appropriate choice.

Confirm the glass and installation plan

Ask which glass is proposed and how it meets the requirements for your specific vehicle, including cameras, sensors and other fitted features. Discuss the installer’s training and how the vehicle and adhesive manufacturer’s procedures will be followed.

Plan for installation and safe drive-away

Ask for a job-specific estimate and the earliest time the vehicle may be moved. Installation time, the adhesive’s minimum safe drive-away time and any calibration work are separate parts of the plan. Auto Glass in San Antonio uses Dow U-428 Plus. The technician provides the safe drive-away time using the manufacturer’s temperature and humidity requirements. Follow that instruction; a fixed 30-60 minute window does not fit every replacement.

Check camera calibration requirements

If the windshield has a camera or sensor, ask what the vehicle manufacturer requires after replacement and how completion will be confirmed. Read about windshield ADAS camera calibration before the appointment.

Read the warranty and aftercare

Workmanship coverage lasts for the life of the vehicle, subject to limitations and exclusions. Stress cracks have a 90-day guarantee. Coverage ends when ownership changes, a receipt is required and warranty work is available Monday-Friday only. See the Customer Center warranty and aftercare terms for the full conditions and current care instructions. This is a summary, not a replacement for those terms.

Keep up with everyday care
